As survivor of cultural and economic disparities, she has over the years contributed to many Liberian efforts that had helped to make a difference in the lives of the people she loves. As a Nurse Practitioner, she works in the medical communities for over 20 years with both the elite and the poorest populations, providing health care, resources and education to patients and their families. She gives hope and empowers every patient to take control of their lives. As an educator, she has precepted nursing and nurse practitioner students from various Universities in California. As a preceptor, she emphasizes on patient and family as a unit and teaches her students to respect and to treat each and every patient the same regardless of their background, age, education or financial status. For over 20 years of working in poorer communities, Ms. McConnell provides hands-on, professional, and culturally sensitive programs to raise awareness and support to some of the most vulnerable individuals, who have given up on their future without disrupting societal or cultural norms. As an adult, she has been an advocate of human rights as demonstrated by her passion to tackle early childhood marriages, and with her education and her personal sacrifices for the last 3 years in providing Christmas meals and school supplies to the children, meal packages for the widows, and retraining for young girls in her homeland, qualifies her to lead the organization. Her passion and mission are to improve, empower and give hope to every woman and child who otherwise will not be able to receive the basic needs of life. Her goal is to make sure that every underprivileged woman and child who live in poverty can be empowered so that one day they can be able take care of themselves and their families and feel that there is still hope in the world where people do care. |
