As we celebrate the New Year with family and friends, it is a good time to reflect on the blessings of the people in our lives, and the opportunities we have been given to help those in need in Liberia. I am thankful for the many volunteers and donors who contribute their time, efforts, and funds so that we can continue our mission of Providing for the Widows, Empowering the Young Women, and Providing School Supplies to the Underprivileged Children in Monrovia, Liberia. This past year, Sensee Foundation of Hope, Inc. was granted official Nonprofit status by the IRS, as a 501 C (3) Corporation which recognizes the organization as being tax-exempt by virtue of its charitable programs. The organization’s California Tax-exempt status is also approved. Sensee Foundation will provide the necessary tax receipts to all our donors prior to the January 31 st deadline. Please do not hesitate to Contact Us if you have not received a receipt for your donation by January 21, 2022. 2021 Programs. In addition to the Children’s Education Programs and Annual Christmas Celebrations, the foundation also started its Widows Care and Young Women Empowerment programs. The Widows Care Program provides Monthly food parcels to Widows who otherwise will not have access to food in their community in Monrovia, Liberia. The Young Women Empowerment Program gives young women who are dropouts from school the opportunity to get training in a vocational school and learn new trades so they can be empowered to sustain themselves. Our Empowerment Programs strive to give Underprivileged Women and Children in Liberia access to opportunities so that they can make better choices, and live the lives they were meant to have and experience, as human beings. Successful Events. In 2021, we added Tahn Maffa Elementary School Mbaloma Grand Cape mount County to our Children’s Education Programs by participating in the Annual School Supplies Giveaway Event. This project helps students, who otherwise will not have the opportunity of attending school due to poverty, to attend school and ease some of the burdens on them and their parents. Sensee Foundation, through the generosity of its donors and sponsors provided school supplies to over fifty students in this rural area. The 2021 Annual Christmas Celebrations was a great success. Over 500 attended the event and received food, toys and school supplies, in addition to participating in, and enjoying the entertainment. The Joy and Happiness expressed by the children was something special to behold. 2022 Looking Ahead. In 2022, Sensee Foundation of Hope will continue to serve the underprivileged in Monrovia and its surrounding communities including the rural part of the Country. In addition to serving more people in the Monrovia area, including the Widows and young women, the Foundation will, through a collaborative effort with Liberian Education Department, provide additional infrastructure, supplies, and staffing assistance, to Tahn Maffa Elementary School Mbaloma Town, Grand Capemount County. The school serves a larger area including the surrounding towns, but there are problems that are affecting the students’ attendance and staffing of full-time or part-time educators; the school is located in a rural area and families do not have the financial income in comparison to those living the city. Most of the inhabitants in these villages work as farmers, and with no resources, the families are unable to afford school supplies, uniforms or the government fees of ($13 US ) per student . Presently, there is only one paid teacher, who serves as both a teacher and Principal. The two others are part time volunteer instructors who do not get any stipends. The school has the capacity for 106 students in four classrooms, but because of the difficulties, the enrollment is less than 75. Additionally, the building is in very poor condition, which impacts the attendance and education of the children in that community. In 2022, we will also continue to expand our Widows Care Programs to include at least 1 new widow each month; the Young Women Empowerment Programs where we give disadvantaged young the opportunity to learn new skills or improve on existing ones to become self-sustainable; our new Sponsored Children program, where we provide the opportunity to Sponsor a child’s education for the entire school year; and the Annual Children’s Christmas Celebrations, where we provide food, toys, entertainment and school supplies for over 500 children; We will work to improve the infrastructure of the Tahn Maffa Elementary School during the current school year which will increase school attendance. We plan to have more teachers by offering stipends to qualified persons who are willing to volunteer. 2022 will be an exciting and active year for Sensee Foundation of Hope INC.
